Summary

The crossing was required following the completion of the railway line connecting Manchester and Chester when completed in 1869. This was a venture undertaken by the Cheshire Lines Committee, formed in 1865 by amalgamation of the Manchester Sheffield & Lincolnshire, the Great Northern, and the Midland railway's. By 1968 the Plemstall Crossing still survived as a means to cross the railway for those coming and going from Holme Farm.

Full Description

The crossing was required following the completion of the railway line connecting Manchester and Chester when completed in 1869. (1) This was a venture undertaken by the Cheshire Lines Committee, formed in 1865 by amalgamation of the Manchester Sheffield & Lincolnshire, the Great Northern, and the Midland railway's.(2) By 1968 the Plemstall Crossing still survives as a means to cross the railway for those coming and going from Holme Farm. (3)
