The map also illustrated that the Chester-Warrington line travelling to Northwich did not juncture, cross or touch at this point. Full Description

There was originally a station at this location as indicated by the 1:2500 1872 OS map (1). The map also illustrated that the Chester-Warrington line travelling to Northwich did not juncture, cross or touch at this point. The station (comprising 2 platforms and 2 small shelters-1 on each side of the line to Northwich) may consequently have served as an exchange point for the 2 railways. However the 1872 map contains no platforms for departing or alighting the Chester-Warrington line so the exact function remains unclear. By the 1910 map (2) the Chester-Warrington line does include a station installation similar to, and to the SW of the Northwich line station. The 2 stations are connected via a path along Station Lane which passes under both lines. By 1982(3) the station is no longer in use, the associated structures appear to have been removed, and the Chester-Warrington, Mickle Trafford-Northwich, Mickle Trafford-Hawarden Bridge [completed 1874 (4)] are all physically connected.
