Full Description
Roman altar, dedicated to the Nymphs & Fountains. Found in 1821 in a field called 'The Daniels' in Boughton. Brought to Eaton in 1822 (See RN: 3000/7/2). Originally housed in a Gothick temple, designed by William Cole and built in 1822. This was replaced by the Loggia c.1880 by Alfred Waterhouse and was incorporated in Detmar Blow's redesign of the east garden in 1911, as the southern terminal of the main cross axis (1).
