Full Description

Excavation between old ditch and A56. Removal of 1.5m of topsoil revealed sandstone chips and small pebbles rammed into blue/gray clay. On the SE side several larger pieces of sandstone formed a probable kerb. It was thought that the main agger of the road lies under the A56. The Blue/gray clay is laid on the natural hard red clay (1).
