Summary

Many flints from garden and plough soil have been found over a wide area near Ashton, below the western scarp of the central sandstone ridge. The flints are mostly mesolithic and include scrapers and borers. Later material has also been found, which suggests that the assemblage may not be the product of a single industry.

Full Description

Many flints from garden and plough soil have been found over a wide area near Ashton, below the western scarp of the central sandstone ridge. Forms include small Mesolithic scalene triangles & rod forms, scrapers & borers. Later material has also been found, which questions the integrity of the assemblage as the product of a single industry (1).
