Summary
Test trench revealed cambered agger with metalling of sandstone chips and pebbles on hard packed red clay, south section sloped to 2m level surface of sandstone chips and pebbles with larger sandstone kerbing. Shallow side ditch filled with black silt. North side destroyed by foundations of animal shed and later ditch.
Agger - The roman name for embankment built to allow drainage of the road surface. Could be simple earth structures or be many different layers of stone. Material for the agger was usually dug for a ditch on either side of the road.

Full Description
Test trench revealed cambered agger with metalling of sandstone chips and pebbles on hard packed red clay, south section sloped to 2m level surface of sandstone chips and pebbles with larger sandstone kerbing. Shallow side ditch filled with black silt. North side destroyed by foundations of animal shed and later ditch (1).
