Full Description

Late Iron Age to Roman (1-200 AD) cast copper-alloy end-looped cosmetic mortar. It has a longitudinal groove which has been worn smooth. The knobbed terminal is small and simple, and the loop is broken. The surface is worn all over and has begun to corrode. These implements are hard to date closely although most date from within the 1st-2nd centuries AD (see 2 p.175). Similar examples can be seen in Jackson's article (see 2 p.176- 179; fig.5; nos. 11, 14, 17 and 18). End-looped.
