Find Spot record 7526/1/4 - Townley Farm Late Roman Coins

Please read our .

Summary

Twenty-nine nummii, small Roman coins, dating from the fourth century AD. Where legible, they are usually attributable to either the House of Constantine or House of Valentinian. However there are two contemporary copies, including one with a Chi-Rho on the reverse. There is also a base silver Radiate of Carausius. Some or all of these finds may be part of a possible hoard dispersed by ploughing (CHER 7526/1/1-4). Alternatively the concentration of finds may suggest a settlement, possibly associated with the Middlewich to Whitchurch road (see CHER 1189/1/0).
