A hermitage dedicated to St Agatha the Virgin at Tarvin (Stamford Bridge) is recorded from 1395-6. The hermit was Richard de Clayton. [Cites (2)].

19 Richard II [c.1388-9]. Richard de Clayton, Hermit of St. Agatha the Virgin of Tervyn, had the King's writ to John Donne, Forester of Mara, to deliver to the said Richard one Oak for the repair of the highway called Holmestrete, and the Bridge called Stanforbrugge. Recognizance Rolls [possibly the Records of the Exchequer of Chester].

In 1396 the hermit was granted an oak to repair Holme St and Stamford Bridge
