Full Description
<1> Various, Written Communication to the HER, King C, 21/05/2007 (Written Communication). SCH3756.
A grassy hollow way running between banks that are topped with hedges and trees. At Edge House Farm the track cuts into the underlying bed rock and mineral veins are visible. It is likely that the track pre dates the eighteenth century enclosure and is probably late medieval in origin. Towards the centre of the track on the eastern side, marks are visible on aerial photographs. It is not known what these represent and they may be geological in origin.
<2> Timberlake, S. and Prag, A.J.N.W., 2005, The Archaeology of Alderley Edge, p.154 (Book). SCH4769.
This road is known locally as the coach or carriage road.

The track is also shown on the Crossley Estate Map of 1787 held in Cheshire Records Office
