Summary

Gibbet windmill. Parkgate Road. Formerly a windmill, now a house. Later 18th century with renovations, extensions and conversion to house 1960. Washed English bond brick with weather-boarded and shingled cap. 3-storey and loft over basement. Tall tapering brick tower with 2-light casements with glazing bars, partly inserted and partly using original openings. The set of sails are copies of the originals, but shortened and do not rotate. To the south is a 1-storey Welsh slate roofed 20th century extension and the basement has been converted to a garage.

Full Description

Gibbet windmill. Parkgate Road. Formerly a windmill, now a house. Later 18th C with renovations, extensions and conversion to house 1960 for the Parker family. Washed English bond brick with weather-boarded and shingled cap. 3-storey and loft over basement. Tall tapering brick tower with 2-light casements with glazing bars, partly inserted and partly using original openings. The set of sails are copies of the originals, but shortened and do not rotate. To the S is a 1-storey Welsh slate roofed 20th C extension and the basement has been converted to a garage. Interior: Massive partly shaped post runs up through the tower. Loft contains a large cast-iron shaft on square wooden framework (1).
