Full Description
Rowton Lane Farmhouse, Rowton Lane. Early C17 with early C18 refacing in brick and addition. Originally timber framed on stone plinth, now brick. Welsh slate roof and three brick chimneys. Two-room baffle-entry house. Two-storey, five-bay east front. Lower windows are wooden casements under segmental brick heads. Interior: Entry against baffle of inglenook fire with chamfered bressumer and a bacon cupboard beyond. Chamfered ceiling beams with fillet and flat stops. Oak staircase with square newels and heavy handrail but no balusters. Addition at south end has the base stone of an early C19 cheese press in situ. Full architectural description (1).
