Summary

A sandstone boundary stone dated 1849. It has a semi-circular head which measures 0.12m deep by 0.32m wide and stands 0.4m above the verge, adjacent to the gatepost and the boundary wall. Inscribed 'S' 1849 (for Sutton ) on the southwest face and 'F' 1849 (for Macclesfield Forest) on the northeast face.

Full Description

Sandstone boundary stone dated 1849. Rectangular block with arched top c.18" high. Sutton face: Inscription reads S 1849 Macclesfield Forest face: Inscription reads F 1849 Slightly channelled effect to both faces (1).

Boundary stone semi-embedded into the grass verge at the entrance to Top Close Farm. The sandstone block with semi-circular head measures 0.12m deep by 0.32m wide and stands 0.4m above the verge, adjacent to the gatepost and the boundary wall. Inscribed 'S' 1849 (for Sutton) on the southwest face and 'F' 1849 (for Forest) on the northeast face. The structure is located on a minor road through the Forest (2 & 3).
