Full Description
A red sandstone parish boundary stone dated 1781. It is a rectangular block with a shaped top divided down the middle and with a line dividing the west face. There is a poorly cut S to left of line and D to the right. The date of 1781 is below (1).
Small red sandstone block with shaped head located in dense hedgerow east side of the busy trunk road. Monument protrudes 0.28m above the ground and was covered in ivy on the day of the site visit. Sited 2m from the roadside and 1m southeast of a modern lamp post. The inscribed 'S' 'D' and 1781 date are barely discernible. Located where an east/west hedgeline meets the roadside hedged boundary. The monument is barely visible and may be at risk to hedge cutting or any management or development that may affect the verge, particularly if its whereabouts are unknown to the operative. In view of this, the current risk assessment is considered to be medium (2 & 3).
