Summary

Grade II Listed early 19th century cast iron hand railing and bollards which rise up Brunswick Hill steps. The cylindrical bollards stand 1.27m high on c.12cm square bases. The row of 35 bollards rise from the lamp post at the base of the steps and bear the manufacturer's stamp 'Watts'. Two flanking bollards stand at the top of the steps.

Full Description

Early nineteenth century cast iron hand-railing and bollards to Brunswick Hill steps. A range of slender cylindrical posts with square caps supporting a single tubular hand rail. Pair of detached cast-iron bollards at head of steps, of similar design (1). Early 19th century cast iron hand railing and bollards which rise up Brunswick Hill steps, performing their original function. The cylindrical bollards stand 1.27m high on c.12cm square bases. The row of 35 bollards rise from the lamp post at the base of the steps. A 2.5cm diameter handrail links the structures. The 10cm square box section on top of the 0.85m long cylindrical sections bear the manufacturer's stamp 'Watts'. Two flanking bollards stand at the top of the steps. The bollards, handrail and lamp post are all painted black (2 & 3).
