Monument record 4582 - Boundary Stone, opposite The Poacher's Inn

An ashlar sandstone block with semi-circular top, at the base of a drystone wall. Dates from the early nineteenth century. It has B (for Bollington) cut on its visible face, now rather worn (1). Sandstone block with semi-circular head inscribed 'B' (for Bollington) located set into the base of the roadside wall opposite the Poacher's Inn. Stone 0.25m high by 0.3m wide. A damaged plastic bollard located on the right hand side of the stone may have been placed to protect it. The stone is well set into the wall 0.5m from the tarmac road. The stone is in good condition but a little worn. Its function is interpreted by the inscription and its location only (2 & 3).
