Monument record 4572 - Parish Boundary Stone

A parish boundary stone dating from the eighteenth century. Rectangular ashlar sandstone block with a shaped, curved top, standing on its end. Has a boldy cut, seriffed S (for Shrigley) on the southern face, a B (for Bollington) on the northern face and a later O.S. bench mark on the side. Very similar to an example on west side of Shrigley Road.

The structure on Long Lane is an 18th century boundary stone of sandstone ashlar. It was first Grade II listed on 17th of November 1983 published in Greenback volume 60, map 5, item 87 in the parish of Pott Shrigley. On 9th December 1983 it was again listed published in Greenback volume 202, map 2, item 33 in the parishes of Bollington and Pott Shrigley. The building appears to be listed twice on the NHLE as 1232108 and 1136365. The entry in volume 202 shall be removed.
