Full Description

The earliest reference to this farm dates from 1701 (Cheshire Sheaf), when it was known as Church on Heath Farm (1). The farm house dates from 1733 to 1766 and was extended c. 1767 to 1799 mid C18. It is built of brown brick in Flemish bond with a grey slate roof. There is a moulded stone string at the level of the second floor and a cornice. The gabled porch is modern, but is in keeping with the rest of the building. The building has two storeys plus an attic. Three-light small-pane sash windows are located to the right of the porch and a four-pane sash window above. These windows have rusticated flat-arch stone heads. More recent 3-light casements, slightly recessed, are located to the left of porch. The older part of the house has rusticated quoins. The interior includes a late Georgian staircase (2). A number of outbuildings, which are depicted on the OS 1st – 3rd edition 25” maps appear to survive within the modern farm complex (3, 4 & 5)).
