Summary

Open-ring brooch with each terminal field inscribed with three ring-and-dot motifs, with two on either side of the gap. It is one of 8 examples of an early medieval brooch type which appears to have a purely west British distribution. The brooches have no zoomorphic featres as seen on the Irish series and are also distinct from Fowler's type G, which is the most widely distributed British penannular brooch of the period. This brooch and others like it do not come from an excavated context so no accurate date can be indicated.
