Incomplete silver sword pommel found in a depth of 3"-4". Whole of the item is hollow cast with a height of 21mm, depth of 12mm, weight of 15.62g and a surviving width of 34.4mm. Item found 25/5/03 and reported to Liverpool Museum on 04/06/2003 (1).

Silver gilt pommel cap decorated with interlace. Pommel cap consists of a domed central element originally flanked by low shoulders in the form of a stylised animal head. The central element is decorated on each face with a pair for four legged animals against a loose interlace patterned figure of eight. Each face is subtly different, with the animals on one side having wings.(2)

Arched central element decorated on one face with a pair of confronted stylised animals standing and on the other a pair of standing adorsed animals. Set in a frame of guilloche interlace with a vertical line of guilloche separating the animals. The animals on one side appear to be winged. The tails of the animals form interlace knots, the pattern of which is different on each side. One of the two side projections is missing. They are in the form of stylised animal heads bearing their teeth. The whole is hollow cast with melted silver filling the base of the socket of the central element. Possibly gilded.
