Full Description
Congregational Chapel. The site was bought in 1841 by the Cheshire County Union, although the Chapel was not built until 1847. In 1868 services were transferred to the Town Hall and elsewhere prior to the erection of a new chapel [CSMR 2652/4/0]. The former building was then sold for commercial use. It was reopened by Christadelphians in 1930. The Chapel, of brick with stone dressings and a slate roof, is a late Gothic jeu d'espirit with a battlemented East front. The side walls each have four windows with pointed-arched heads and cast-iron frames. The interior has a moulded and panneled ceiling; no gallery or original fittings survive (1).
