Full Description

Memorial dated 1846. Stone with battered pedestal mounted on steps and surmounted by cornice with acroteria. Plain block above this with chamfered top, itself surmounted by a draped urn. Inscription on pedestal records "As a tribute of veneration and esteem for the public and private benevolence of John Whitaker the founder, this monument is erected by the volountary contributions of a grateful posterity the 6th day of May 1846 being the 50th anniversary of the establishment of this Sunday school". On the upper block a low relief bust (1).
It is directly in front of the Sunday school [CSMR 1563/14/0].
