Full Description
At Domesday, Claverton formed an independent vill and was part of the possessions of Hugh Fitz Osberne, predecessor of the Pulfords. It had land for 2 ploughs (1). Claverton was a rich manor in 1086, valued at 12 pence a year, with a salt-wich in Northwich and 8 houses in the city of Chester in Duke Street. Almost depopulated by 1957 (2). Suggested as a deserted medieval village, but more likely deserted manor (3).
