Full Description
Octagonal Wesleyan Methodist Chapel built in 1765 on or near the site of the Calvinistic chapel on City Road. The congregation formerly met in a private house and a barn between 1752 and 1765 at St Martin's Ash. It was superseded in 1811 by the Chapel on St John Street (CHER 10045)(1).
The chapel was occupied between 1813 and 1864 by a branch of the Presbyterians originating from the teachings of Philip Oliver. The chapel was replaced by the Welsh Presbyterian chapel on City Road (CHER 10827) (3)
