A Wesleyan Methodist Chapel was built on St John Street in 1811 and designed by Thomas Harrison and William Cole II, it replaced an earlier Methodist Chapel on City Road. The building was restored in 1906 and significantly altered.

Full Description

A Wesleyan Methodist Chapel was built on St John Street in 1811 and designed by Thomas Harrison and William Cole II, it replaced an earlier Methodist Chapel on City Road (1). The building was restored in 1906 and significantly altered. It had been originally designed with its main entry to the west allowing access via the City Walls however this was altered in 1906 to allow access from St John Street. The 19th century maps included an infant school to the south west with a second school to the north separated by two properties. It was included in English Heritage’s Listed Buildings Register in 1998. (2)
