Full Description
Stamford Mill. First mentioned in 1188-91 as 'molendinum de Staneford'. Additional references in 14th & 16th centuries (1). Present building:- was 2-storey, but in 1965 reduced to one & used as the kitchen to the mill house. There were said to be date stones under the cement rendering of 1610 & 1790. A painting of 1892 shows an enclosed wheel of undershot type. The wheel & machinery were removed c.1900 (2).
