Summary

This stretch of rail connected the Wirral Colliery (or Denna/Denhall Colliery) to the Birkenhead Railway after the silting up of Denhall Quay which contributed, in part, to the decline and eventual closure of the original Denhall Colliery.

The silting up of the estuary was certainly a very significant factor in the closure of the colliery but was not the only one.
