Full Description
Horton Grange, possibly the site of a medieval grange. Aerial photographs may show earthworks relating to the grange, surviving next to the present farmhouse (1). The present building is a house, 1629, altered. Brick- nogged oak small framing, partly rebuilt in brick; slate roofs probably formerly thatched. Two-storey main wing with two- storey cross- wing to each side. Replaced boarded door and timber casements. Double gable- rafters suggest the roof was raised, probably late C17. Carved on front collar beam of left cross- wing HG 1629. Small slate-roofed brick lean-to left, probably C20. Interior: stated to have an oak stair of interest. Full architectural description (2) .
