Full Description
Brunner's Works established in 1873 by John Brunner and Ludwig Mond when they bought Winnington Hall from Lord Stanley of Alderley. It became a limited company in 1881 and became part of ICI in 1926. Brine was pumped from the Holford rocksalt deposits east of Northwich and Limestone came from Tunstead Quarry near Buxton, Derbyshire. There was a Solvay soda-ammonia plant at this works (1).
