Full Description

This map depicts the navigation yard, sawpits and workshops belonging to the Weaver Navigation Company.

This map depicts the navigation yard and associated buildings including a smithy. The Navigation offices are located to the south and the Castle Dockyard to the immediate north. The navigation yard appears to be open to the River Weaver and the associated towpath.

The yard is bisected for the road for the Hayhurst Bridge, but the bridge is not extant yet. The smithy is still labelled.

Clock tower of Weaver Navigation Trust (now B.W.B.), 1830. Brick and weatherboarded timber frame. Lowest stage of brick has recessed panel in each side; three upper stages of timber have clock faces on north and south sides of top stage, above which is a hemispherical cupola, with moulded finial, on four Doric columns. External wooden steps to raised doorway.
