Map

Type and Period (1)

Full Description

(1) and (2) show an oil storage depot with earth covered storage tanks and buildings, with an impressive ditch and bank surrounding the site. It is composed of three areas, one is on the other side of the canal and is currently disused. It is very similar to the other world war two storage facilities at Beeston (CSMR: 4096) and Twemloe Green (CSMR: 4093). Aerial photos show that the southern site was probably abandoned during the 1990's as there is deterioration in the pathway that runs through the site in between the 1993 photos and the 1999/2001 photos.
