Description
Detailed recording and analysis was undertaken for 13 structural timbers found in a palaeochannel during development works on a site off St Anne's Lane (ECH5893). The timbers appeared to form a revetment or flood defence. Tool marks on the timbers suggest a Roman date, although they could also be medieval in date. Dendrochronological dating was unsuccessful.
