Description

Oakmere Hall was commissioned by John and Thomas Johnson of Runcorn and built in 1867. The architect was John Douglas and it was his first commission for a large house. Originally a private house, in the 1940s it became a rehabilitation centre and hospital. In the 1990s it was divided into 8 residential apartments. The outbuildings and walled garden were also developed as private residences. The Hall stands in approximately 14 acres of communal grounds comprising woodland, formal gardens and a lake. Principal remaining features Hall, Grade II Listed 1313106 Forest Lodge, Locally listed Keeper’s Lodge, Locally listed Front Lodge, Locally listed The Grange (former lodge), Locally listed Some walls from Walled garden Woodland and shrubbery Raised terrace Pond
