Description

Reason for not scheduling - SMR notes that the barrow has been destroyed in two stages: the eastern half by widening of the A501 and the western half by construction of a petrol station. However, the NGR indicates a location slightly to the east of this and the SMR notest the suggestion of a mound here. This mound is located adjacent to a pub car park; it is heavily mutilated and up to 0.7m high. It is now triangular in shape being destroyed on its west by the A501 and the north by the pub car park. The pub land lady says it is solely a product of soil removal with the top of the alleged mound the original ground level - the surrounding soil to the east and south was removed and sold. The mound is not an archaeological feature. (1)
