Description

A Heritage Impact Assessment was produced in 2024 in support of a proposed development off Chester Way, Northwich. It is considered that the proposed development of the Site will have no harmful impact on the ability to appreciate the significance of designated and non-designated built heritage assets through their settings. The overall archaeological potential of the Site is considered to be low to moderate. Whilst the projected line of Roman road crosses the northern part of the Site, due to the likely disturbance through later activity it is unlikely for it to be considered of more than regional significance. Post-Medieval and 19th century activity is known to have occurred on the Site, and if encountered is considered to be of no more than local significance. In general, there is a low potential for undisturbed archaeological remains pre-dating the 19th century to survive in the Site due to the presence of the 19th century railway and road within the Site as well as significant 20th century vegetation.
