Description
Heritage assessment produced in 2023 for Old Hall, Little Budworth, in advance of proposed redevelopment including demolition of existing dwelling, construction of new dwelling and refurbishment of existing barns. It is a former dairy farm dating from the mid to late 19th century consisting of farmhouse and brick built barns mostly used for animal housing; the older barns are in a state of dereliction. The buildings are locally listed (CHER 6639, 6640).
The Farmhouse and Barns are all of brick in Cheshire red common and have a mix of English garden wall bond and Flemish bond. The barns are set out on an open square plan form. A later brick built single storey barn exists centrally and is later 20th century in age. Old Hall is not depicted on Tithe mapping dating to 1840 and first appears on OS maps 1874. (1)
