Site Event/Activity record ECH7215 - Land to the East of Longridge, Knutsford, Cheshire: Historic Hedgerow Assessment

An Historic Hedgerow Assessment (HHA) was produced in 2022 for an area of land to the east of Longridge, Knutsford, Cheshire, in support of a proposal for a residential development of up to 225 dwellings. The historic hedgerow assessment conducted by Cheshire Archive and Local Studies Service identified four boundaries within the PDA that meet the criteria set out in within the Hedgerow Regulations 1997. Therefore, any potential remnants of hedgerow along these boundaries could qualify as being ‘historically important’ under the terms of these Regulations. The majority of these boundaries however will remain extant, with the proposed development being sympathetic to the historical natural landscape, retaining and incorporating historical natural features within the design, preserving areas, and enhancing the surrounding area. The only direct impact appears to be the removal of a section of trees/hedgerow opposite the Public House, along Longridge Road. It is considered that the potential removal of trees/hedgerow is deemed to be of a level that would not negatively impact the historically important boundary, as a substantial amount of the boundary would remain, not effecting the legibility of the boundary.
