Description

Reason for not scheduling. The monument is a low mound c.26m diameter surrounded by faint traces of a ditch and external bank. It lies in the corner of a field with a lane immediately to the east. SMR lists it as either a round barrow or a windmill mound. MPPFW visit took place on 09/12/1992 with Dr. M. Nieke (IAM). The mound was found to be poorly preserved and did not appear convincing as a barrow. Another mound was examined c.350m to the north and this also was an unconvincing barrow. There is documentary evidence for windmill mounds in the area and it is though that this mound may be a windmill mound rather than a barrow. As such it is not recommended for scheduling at the present time. (1)
