Summary
Survival: Victorian and earlier house, with matching lodge at gate. Overgrown woods on the N side of the gateway; a shelter belt of pines and more overgrown woodland on the other side. Lawn between gate and house; drive curving round to the right.
Previous form: Originated as a shooting lodge, first mentioned in 1832 at a meet of Sir Thomas Stanley’s hounds (of Hooton Hall). See notes below for more history.
Current form: Private house
