Summary
Moated site. C16 half-timbered hall at centre of island was demolished 1788.
Extant farmhouse and dovecote built 1793 on SW side of the moat side by new owner John Glegg of Withington and Gayton. By 1842 the farm was owned by the Grosvenors of Eaton Hall. In the 1880s Dodleston village became one of the model villages of the Eaton estate.
Farm since 1793. Successive owners did not live there but let to tenant farmers.
Survival: House and dovecote of 1793 extant. Moat appears to have been filled in since 1970
Previous form House and dovecote set within a moat with an orchard and possibly a garden
Current form Complex of large farm buildings to NW, widened drive, and moated enclosure now incorporated into adjacent field.
