Survival
Mansion of late 1700s demolished in 1957 and replaced with smaller house.
Probable survival of garden immediately surrounding the house
Mid-20th C planting of rhododendron hybrids from Loder’s garden at Leonardslea.
Plant List recorded by land girl during WW2.
Previous form: Large country estate with pleasure garden surrounding the house developed and planted by owners and tenants over two centuries.5 Garden descriptions given in sale documents at various times. Walled kitchen garden with glass houses and moon gate entrance. South garden (now called Garden Wood) with mature specimen trees, probably over 150 years old.
Current form: Estate still in private hands but size greatly reduced. Pleasure garden with ponds around the house.
