Description

A Heritage Assessment was produced in 2021 for the Victoria Infirmary, Northwich. The site contains the Grade II Listed Victoria Infirmary Old Wing, as well as a number of later wings and extensions. The early-20th century wing to the north-east of the Listed Building and the detached lodge building at the main entrance are Locally Listed Buildings. The Old Wing is significant as a relatively unaltered early-19th century dwelling. The historic interest of the building derives from the change of use of the building to a hospital in the late-19th century, as part of a gift to the local community by wealthy philanthropists. The grounds of the former house were also gifted to the town and became the public Verdin Park. The park is considered to form a key component of the setting of the Victoria Infirmary and the Conservation Area. (1)
