Description
Evaluation trenching undertaken to the east of the existing medieval hall revealed good evidence for a large late medieval or early post-medieval wing, with thick sandstone wall footings, and areas of brickwork flooring. This was probably demolished sometime during the eighteenth century, and was probably a detached kitchen block, located at the lower end of the great hall. The remains of this wing are considered as of high archaeological significance.
