Description
A desk-based assessment was produced in 2018 for land at Abbey Lodge, Abbey Lane, Hartford, in support of a proposal to demolish the existing building and replace it with a residential development. The building, a midnineteenth century house with associated garden, lies in the centre of the village. It is thought to be an outbuilding associated with a large house, located to the north, and demolished by the mid twentieth century. It is neither nationally nor locally listed. The site appears to have been the site of a trackway running north-east/south-west across the southern area of the site, thought to date from the eighteenth century and in use until the mid nineteenth century. The only potential buried remains are thought to relate to the Post Medieval trackway and are of negligible significance. (1)
