Description
The Yeld (SJ 56 NW) SJ 5330 6930 bordering Yeld Lane, Delamere
Area covered by rough grass, brambles, shrubs and trees (none of the trees look to be of any great age). A small bank borders Yeld Lane twenty-eight metres west from this and running approximately north to south is another bank one metre high and four metres wide. The latter feature borders an area with many steep banks and [possible] dumps of what seems to be a sandy clay, all covered by vegetation. Some of these banks are around four metres high. On the west side two banks run parallel alongside a flat, open area about forty-five metres in diameter. Near the disused pit (marked on the 1:10,000 [plan]) is an exposure of a seam of sandstone, with some chisel marks. This is however the only such sandstone noted. The 152 metre contour looks to follow the line of some of the outer banks bordering the area on the west side.
