Description
Summary
Late C17 house, remodelled 1788. Restored and extended to high standards by the present owner.
Parkland and terrace/long walk documented from 1762. Some features have disappeared or been altered during the last 240 years but, essentially, the hall with its S terrace and N parkland remains, still set in a pastoral landscape.
Aerial photographs suggest that much of the former park has been retained. It contains several single trees and clumps of mature parkland trees.
A modern water feature has been created on the site of the former ‘canal’ and on the sightline from the hall entrance to an obelisk (which may be the original C18 one).
Trees have been planted on the slope S of the hall
