Description

1715: Baroque mansion of the Egertons of Oulton. 1752: walls around deer park of 315 acres. 1770–91: Creation of landscape park with 2 lakes, pleasure grounds and 2 walled gardens by notable landscape gardener William Emes and his pupil John Webb. 1816-26: Alterations to mansion and grounds by Lewis Wyatt and John Webb. 1926: mansion destroyed by fire. / 1939-50: N park lost to large camp for British and US troops. 1953-today: Oulton Park motor racing circuits occupy the most of the former parkland. The E/SE park is part of Oulton Estate. Please note: it has not been possible to gain access to Oulton Park except from adjacent public rights of way. Principal remaining features Screen, lodges, gates (1775) – listed Grade II* Monument (1846) - listed Grade II* Stable Block (1822) – listed Grade II Home Farm (mid C18) – listed Grade II Brick walls of Deer Park (1752) and Kitchen Garden (c.1780)
