Description
An archaeological watching brief was conducted in February 2019 during the construction of a new house at 7 Mill Street, Neston. The site is situated on the northern fringe of the historic core of Neston, in an area with potential for the presence of archaeological deposits dating to the Prehistoric, Roman and medieval periods.
The fieldwork consisted of the archaeological monitoring of top soil stripping prior to the excavation of a basement for the new house. This found that geological deposits consisted of weathered sandstone bedrock which was overlain by a layer of top soil. No archaeological deposits were present and no further archaeological work is required on this site. (1)
