Description
Desk Based assessment and archaeological walkover survey.
The assessment concludes the development site was located outside of the historic core of the town on land enclosed, possibly in the 19th century. Baseline data suggests minimal activity from the prehistoric to medieval periods and that there is low potential for as yet unknown buried archaeological remains.
It is likely that the construction of buildings and infrastructure associated with the school within the southern area of the site would have truncated any potential archaeological remains.
The landscaping of the playing fields within the northern area of the site is likely to have adversely effected any potential below ground archaeological remains, as well as the evidence from the baseline data, the cartographic sources suggest it is not likely for below ground archaeological remains within the development site.
