Description

A rapid building assessment was undertaken in November 2001 at Tarvin Hall in advance of proposed redevelopment. The building and grounds of which are thought to be the most likely site for the medieval manor of Tarvin. The assessment examined the construction of the cellar of the Georgian building with a view to dating the fabric and assessing the consequence of redevelopment. The walls of the cellar were found to mirror the plan of the hall above. The building is constructed on sandstone bedrock with regular quarry cut sandstone foundations and brickwork above. All visible fabric appears to comply with the Georgian building and no evidence of medieval fabric was observed. (1)
